01
A shared health record must work for the people delivering care: doctors and nurses documenting treatment, pharmacy and lab teams sharing information, and schedulers coordinating appointments. VA’s transition also has to preserve connections with benefits applications and legacy systems as facilities move at different times. Missing or unusable information can disrupt disability examination workflows and create extra work for staff. The challenge is to make those connections work reliably in practice, so care teams can access the information they need and examination evidence can reach the benefits process.
02
Within the Oracle Health prime ecosystem, Bracari designed and documented interfaces and built software connecting the new electronic health record with VA’s disability examination and benefits workflows. We developed a cloud-hosted transformation service that converted examination data into readable Disability Benefits Questionnaires and delivered them electronically to VA’s eFolder and Veterans Benefits Management System.
We also designed and built the Exam Management application to address scheduling and workflow gaps, including questionnaires that must retain their original policy version while an examination is completed. Engineers worked with clinical, technical and benefits stakeholders to define requirements, test exchanges and support production deployment.
For interface design, we replaced repeated work with common requirements where providers shared similar needs. Today, Bracari continues supporting integration and releases on Accenture Federal Services’ SISS team, bringing knowledge of these cross-system dependencies to the expanding modernization effort.
03
Bracari delivered production software that carries disability-examination information from the new health record into VA’s benefits environment, maintaining a working connection between care delivery and claims processing. Our reusable interface-design approach also reduced review rework within the documented Oracle-era engagements. This work continues within a rapidly expanding program: VA reported 11 hospital deployments in 2026 by August, compared with six in the preceding five years. At that point, the Federal EHR supported more than 35,000 VA clinicians and staff and served more than 617,000 Veterans. Those deployment and reach figures describe the VA-wide program supported by the broader delivery team.
