01
Testing a better approach to healthcare requires dependable technology behind the policy. CMS’s Innovation Center needed systems through which participating organizations could apply, exchange information and support model operations. Its Technology Solutions procurement described a portfolio of shared services and model-specific applications, including legacy architectures that limited reuse and modern deployment practices. Building separate solutions for every new model added complexity. The challenge was to maintain operational services while creating a more adaptable technical foundation for models designed to improve care quality and reduce unnecessary spending.
02
As a subcontractor to Softrams, Bracari provided full-lifecycle cloud engineering and development support on CMMI Technology Solutions. Our work placed engineering capacity within a program responsible for maintaining and evolving the technology that supports Innovation Center operations.
The program’s modernization objectives explain why that work matters. CMS sought reusable capabilities that could serve multiple models, allowing teams to adapt common services as requirements changed. Its procurement covered both shared platforms and model-specific systems, with full-lifecycle development and DevSecOps responsibilities. Reliable application delivery is central to keeping these services useful while new models are introduced and existing models evolve.
Bracari’s contribution focused on the cloud and software engineering behind those services. This work supports the operational foundation that CMS model teams and participating organizations rely on to use digital tools, exchange information and carry out model activities.
03
Bracari contributed engineering support to the digital services behind healthcare payment and delivery model operations. The mission extends well beyond software: CMS’s 2024 report estimated that its Innovation Center models and initiatives affected or delivered care to more than 57 million beneficiaries and individuals through over 192,000 participating providers and plans during October 2022–September 2024. These are portfolio-wide figures, with possible overlap between models. Within that wider mission, Bracari’s cloud and development contribution supports the technology used to operate and adapt model activities as healthcare policy and program needs change.
